on the quest for the meaning of life
Well…
I just so happened to be slowing walking down the stairs, moaning, and mumbling ‘go to work wasted’ by NOFX, and upset since I had wasted the night by choosing to watch ‘Paranormal Activity’.
But then I had an obscure thought.
An atheist would probably tell you that they believe in evolution (and I do, but I wouldn’t say I’m an atheist)… If they were inclined to believe in evolution, then they would most likely then assume that consciousness evolved solely by itself in the depths of the ocean, without the assistance from an outside source.
But it’s quite a thought to think that so many 60’s psychedelic songs can exist, even a song like ‘Windy’ by the Association, whose source begins way further than a billions of years of an evolving Cosmos.
I’m mainly trying to emphasize the idea of consciousness in its present day form.
I find it kind of amazing and pretty hard to believe that human beings and animals can still be on this planet, despite all of which its had to go through, if there was absolutely no kind of higher power of some kind. And that I can have the kind of sense of humor that I do.
It might just be me, but when I hear ‘We Built this City’ by Frenzal Rhomb; I think I hear a special tone in the first notes of that synthesizer.
Isn’t that comparable to say that a bunch of dirt in the no-matter of my garage can, ”poof”/have a big bang, then over time, formulate its own consciousness and willingness to write and sing songs like ‘Windy’, ‘We Built this City’, and even the Archies ‘Sugar Sugar’, if you will… Though I would bet that an atheist would probably disagree that specks of dirt can formulate it’s own consciousness and do things like build cities or write 60’s pop songs.
But it’s a kind of paradox in any way that you look at it, because, regardless if there is a God or No Gods at all, if you really think about it. How did it start???
